Lobster Bully Netting
A lobster bully netting charter in Islamorada is a unique, hands-on adventure that gives you the chance to experience one of the Florida Keys’ most iconic seasonal traditions. These trips run during lobster season at night and are tide dependent. We need to go when the spiny Caribbean lobsters emerge from their hiding spots in the shallow flats, channels, and reef edges. Using specially designed bully nets and bright spot lights, we work quietly over shallow flats to corral lobsters gliding over the shallow flats, giving guests the thrill of catching their own fresh, legal-sized lobsters.
These charters are as much about the experience as the catch. Guests will learn about local ecology, tidal patterns, and sustainable harvesting techniques. The shallow, calm waters make it an ideal outing for families, first-time anglers, or anyone looking for a hands-on adventure away from the open ocean. By the end of the trip, participants not only have the satisfaction of landing their own lobsters but also a memorable day exploring some of Islamorada’s most scenic and secluded backcountry waters.
Target Species
We run these charters after dark during the lobster season, from August 6 to March 31.
Where We Fish
We explore the shallow flats, channels, and reef edges throughout the flats of Islamorada and Florida Bay. These areas are teeming with crevices, ledges, and rocky structures where lobsters naturally hide, making them ideal for a productive and exciting netting trip. Depending on the tide and conditions, we may work around Indian Key, Long Key, or the less-visited flats near Islamorada, adjusting our route to find the densest lobster concentrations.
The beauty of these charters is that the locations are always flexible. We read the tides, wind, and water clarity to take guests where the lobsters are most active. By covering different flats and shallow channels, we maximize both the action and the scenic variety, giving participants the chance to explore some of the most iconic waterways around Islamorada.
