Your group is welcome to keep fish that are in season, typically we do not like to fill the full limits as we value the resource and do not like to waste any fish with over-harvesting.

All bookings require a 20% deposit to secure the date. This deposit is non-refundable once within 14 days of the booking date.

Requests to change a trip date are subject to availability and may not always be accommodated.

All charters are weather permitting and will be up to the Captain’s discretion if the trip needs to be rescheduled.

An offshore fishing charter in Islamorada is a perfect way to experience great fishing year round. Trips begin with an early morning run to catch fresh live bait before heading out to the open waters of the Atlantic. We often deploy kites and drift live baits across productive areas, an exciting and highly effective technique for targeting sailfish, mahi-mahi, tuna, and king mackerel. In addition to trolling and kite fishing, we can drop lines on deep wrecks and reefs for hard-fighting amberjack, mutton snapper, yellowtail snapper, and grouper. These spots often produce steady action and a variety of species, giving you a chance to experience multiple fishing styles in a single trip. Whether your goal is to battle pelagics on the surface or haul big fish up from the depths, our offshore charters offer the speed, range, and expertise to make it happen.

Target Species

Please note: Grouper season is open May 1 – December 31, we rarely bottom fish outside of Grouper season.

Winter: During the winter months, offshore fishing in Islamorada shifts toward targeting cooler-water species like sailfish, king mackerel, or Spanish mackerel. We don’t bottom fish much this time of year as grouper season is closed. This is prime time for sailfish, which become more abundant and actively feed near the surface, making kite fishing particularly productive. The weather is generally cooler and provides excellent conditions for offshore excursions.

Spring: As water temperatures rise in spring, fishing is great for a wide variety of species but especially the yellowtail snapper. Spring is the best time of year to target them. Mahi-mahi (dolphin) begin to appear in large numbers around May along weed lines and floating debris offshore. This season offers thrilling opportunities to hook these vibrant, acrobatic fish.

Summer: Summer is peak mahi-mahi season, with these fish often showing up in large schools offshore. We don’t troll or drag baits, we do a lot of running and gunning with our fast boat. We read the birds and the water to find mahi schools. Depending on the conditions we can also target tuna, wahoo, and billfish species throughout the warmer months.

Fall: Fall marks the transition as mahi-mahi begin to move out and cooler-water species return. Amberjack and grouper become more active around wrecks and reefs, making deep-dropping and bottom fishing particularly productive. Kite fishing for sailfish continues through early fall, offering anglers a chance to connect with these spectacular billfish.

Where We Fish

Our Islamorada offshore fishing charters cover areas from the nearshore reefs out to the deeper wrecks and ledges 30+ miles east of Islamorada. Our nearshore reefs have us fishing 80-200 feet of water and generally staying close to shore, only being a few miles from shore. When we go far offshore for Mahi Mahi we will often go 30+ miles offshore chasing prime conditions for holding fish.
